What went well?

We created a successful quiz on H5P, which had great feedback when it was tested. We made clear prototypes which people could easily follow.

Skills Learnt? How can we apply these to other projects?

  • I’ve learnt how to create a quiz on Kahoot
  • I’ve learnt how to create a multiple choice quiz on H5P
  • I’ve learnt how to embed a link into Google Sites as the H5P link wouldn’t embed into the WordPress document – this would help me in the future as I now have another way to embed a link if the initial website link doesn’t work
  • I have learnt how to edit videos on iMovie – this means that i can use iMovie to edit videos if it was to only software available to me or if the Adobe licence expires again

How did we present our ideas?

We presented our work by creating paper and online prototypes. On our paper prototypes, we showed a flow chart suggesting how we would like the quiz to work. We also created the type of display we’d like to have for our quiz on separate pieces of paper. Our online prototype was made on Kahoot. It worked very well and was a hit with the people who tested the quiz out. (more information on prototypes is disclosed on another blog post)

How effective was our communication with others?

I communicated well with others. Me and my teammate Georgia communicated regularly in person and over Snapchat. We communicated well with the people reviewing our prototypes and made sure that they were happy for us to use their responses. I also spoke well to our teachers when asking for help/advice and during 1 to 1 catch ups.

What could I improve?

We could have improved on our presentation of the snippets we used from the songs in our quiz, as it is just a dark screen. We could have made a more interesting thumbnail, including images of different artists and patterns etc. to draw more attention to the pages.

How effective is our project?

My project is effective as our quiz is very interactive. It gets people playing involved and challenges their knowledge on music. People who have tested our project have said that it is a good quiz and a very enjoyable experience. The quiz has multiple choice answers which the person playing can choose from. This also gives them a subtle hint, encase they didn’t already know the songs. We have tried to include a reward system into our quiz; however with H5P, reward systems weren’t an option provided. Because of this, we had to create a system ourselves by writing praises and condolences into the drop box.

What could I do better next time?

We could include a wider variety of songs and a better range of questions, instead of only using the question regarding the song title and artist. We could also use a better equipped website to create our quiz on as there was no reward system option for the correct answers.

Describing my project…

Our project is an interactive online music quiz for people to play if they love music. We have 10 multiple choice questions with different artists and the players have to select the correct answer to win a point. At the end of the quiz, it tells you how many points you have won out of 10. That way you can see how well you have done on the quiz.

Did anything go wrong?

We encountered some issues when creating this quiz. One example would be that the Premier Pro software would not open as the Adobe Licence had expired on my iMac. To resolve this, we used iMovie to crop our song snippets down. Another issues we had was that the H5P link would not embed into the WordPress document, therefore we had to create a new Google website and paste the link onto there to then embed it into our WordPress documents.

Overall…

This project has been fairly straight forward to complete, despite website issues and software problems. We have created a successful quiz to a good standard. There are definitely things that could be improved on such as the visuals, however it has really been a personal achievement for me as I’ve been able to hand my work in on time, despite having personal issues throughout the project and having to miss a fair amount of lessons.
