Expectations:
The audience that we are aiming to make this quiz for would expect us to:
- Include a scoring system
- Use a mixture of different songs (from different genres and eras) to engage everyone who choose to take the quiz
- Make the questions multiple choice or give hints as to what the answers could be
- For song snippets to automatically be played once the question changes
- A time limit to answer questions to challenge the players when taking the quiz
Limitations:
Some limitations we encountered when making the online quiz were:
- Having no time limit option on H5P- This meant that we were unable to control the amount of time that people taking the quiz had to answer the question. This could negitively impact on our quiz as people will have time to Google the answers if they didn’t already know it
- No reward systems due to lack of tools on H5P- People expect quizzes to have a praising system when they get questions correct, this as an option wasn’t available, therefore we was going to insert a gif or image into the feedback box. This was also not able to be done, therefore we ended up just writing our own praises and condolenses to the correct and incorrect answers which we copied and pasted on each question
- Songs do not automatically play when you are on a new question- This was a minor issue as people expect it to play automatically, and we have no control over how many times the player hears the snippets as you can replay them. This however wasn’t all bad as it meant that the player could listen to the snippet when they are ready to and not have to miss half the snippet if they was distracted
- Copyright Laws- As we do not own any of the songs, we had to consider copyright licencing to be able to use the clips of the songs. As we are students, we can use the audio snippets for educational purposes which enables us to legally use the songs without any legal issues
Barriers:
When creating our quiz, these were the barriers that we had come across:
- The Adobe licence on my computer had expired, therefore we couldn’t crop the songs down on Premier Pro video editor- Due to this we had to look for different video editing softwares installed on the iMac, we eventually found that iMovie worked fine on the iMac therefore we used that to edit our videos/mp4 files instead
- H5P wouldn’t embed straight into WordPress– Because of this, we created a Google Site and embedded the H5P link into the new website, from there we copied the new Google website link and pasted it into our WordPress Blogs
